Do-dee - My Beloved

Tuesday 25 November 2003 - 15:10:24

Listen my beloved brethren;
did not God choose the poor of this world
to be rich in faith
and heirs of the kingdom
which He promised to those who love Him?
James 2:5

As we approach June 3 tomorrow (and some are already at June 3), I think about Pentecost. And I never think of Pentecost without thinking about Shavuot, the Feast of Weeks. The disciples were in that upper room, waiting for
D'var Hah-Ahv
the Promise of the Father.(Acts 1:4)
I surmise that the disciples and those gathered in that upper room were celebrating Shavuot, and also recalling the giving of the Law to Moses at Sinai, the Word of the Father
D'var Hah-Ahv.

James (Yaakov) addresses the group as 'my beloved' -
Dodee in Hebrew. It is easy to forget at times, that we are God's beloved, isn't it?
In the course of the work week, it is easy to get weak
in faith. Yet Yeshua Jesus told those on the hill overlooking the Galilee, (and He tells us, too) "blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven." Remember that the next time that you feel poor in spirit, that truly you are blessed.
We cannot fathom God's love for us,, sinners saved from a death we deserve,
by the One who only deserved life, and life
eternal at that.

Poor yet rich in faith
Walk by faith and not sight
If you see it, it is not faith
It is when you don't see it
and believe,
that is faith
and you are rich
you are heirs
You have the D'var Hah Ahv -
The Father's Word on it.
Pentecost/Shavuot/the Feast of Weeks
is a celebration of our Much More God
who calls us My beloved

Paul says in I Corin 2:4-12

and my message and my preaching
were not in persuasive words of wisdom,
but in demonstration of the Spirit and of Power
that your faith should not rest on the wisdom of men,
but on the power of God.
Yet we do speak wisdom among those who are
mature;
a wisdom, however not of this age,
nor of the rulers of this age,
who are passing away;
but we speak God's wisdom
in a mystery, the hidden wisdom,
which God predestined before the ages
to our glory;
the wisdom which none of the rulers of this age
has understood;
for if they had understood it,
they would not have crucified the Lord of glory;
but
just as it is written (in Isaiah too)

"Things which eye has not seen
and ear has not heard,
and which have not entered the heart of man,
All that God has prepared
for those who love Him."

For to us God revealed them through
the Spirit,
for the Spirit searches all things,
even the depths of God.
For who among men knows the thoughts
of a man except the spirit of a man which is in him?

Even so the thoughts of God
no one knows except the Spirit of God.

Now we have received,
not the spirit of the world,
but the Spirit who is from God,
that we might know the things freely given to us
by GOD..
